Saudi Prince defects to Germany (The Institute of Gulf Affairs, 26/07/2013)

Saudi prince Khaled Bin Farhan AlSaud defected today from the Saudi Monarchy.

AlSaud who lives in Germany issued a YouTube statement announcing his defection from his family because it rejected repeated reform calls from the people and used violence and oppression against them.

He also spoke about corruption of his family, the lack of freedoms, social services and the absence of an independent judicial system.

This is the second defection from the Saudi Monarchy this summer. Last month, Saudi diplomat to the United States Harun Ahmed defected on YouTube as well. The western media has notably been ignoring these defections and has not yet reported the defection of Ahmed who held a press conference Monday explaining reasons for his defection. The conference was not reported by the media.

There are strong reports that other defections will follow in the next few months from the military and diplomacy.
